Private House 1 North Co. Dublin
The aim of this project was to reinstate a derelict vernacular dwelling to its former glory creating a functional living space for the owner and his family. The vernacular dwelling in question is approximately two hundred years old and is a protected structure. A contemporary link between the vernacular dwelling and the adjacent fine random rubble stone outbuilding created a more spacious floor plan to accommodate the family’s needs. The link also provided a contrast between old and new. Care was taken during the construction process especially when reinstating the mud walls and the roof of the protected structure. This project was completed in 2008. View
